Just got through with Sunday service, and our youth pastor (pastor al force) spoke. Great message on generational transferring! So here is what I got out of it… What am I transferring to the generation behind me? Well since I am a young adult’s pastor, I deal with men and women that are so influenced by culture. I know I know, we hear about this a lot and can kinda become cliché in “culturally relevant churches”But what exactly is culture? Do we really know what culture is? Are we trying so hard to be culturally relevant, without knowing what it is? Some would say its music, some would say its movies. But the root of culture is influenced by so much more than just that! A deeper, more prominent meaning of culture is what I have found.. It’s all about peers.. So therefore culture is created by US! We determine, and declare what things are “cool”, “relevant”, and “hip”. Which as church, is the reason why we have failed this generation, we haven’t met there needs as a body. We are not giving them what they are searching for. I, being transparent, have to fight to be this culturally relevant thing; however I have found that young adults are searching and searching for things like what Criss Angel, and David Blaine are giving them… it’s called supernatural.I don’t agree with these guys, nor do I promote what they are doing in any way; however supernatural (in the wrong way) is what they are giving! So church… time to start having a real move of God, supernatural outpourings that are real. Healings, miracles, signs and wonders: no need to fake like we are church if we don’t give the benefits of what the original church was started by…..A genuine, humble, and hungry spirit, that resulted in a movement. So I have learned it’s more important to be a movement, than a FAD!
